The way DLC almost never drops in price or goes on sale (except the major ones and packages), kind of shows what they would do if they didn't compete with physical games. I've waiting so long for some DLC to go on sale that I lost all interest by the time it did. Or they only put it on sale in the package with the game I already owned. idk about console platforms but I see DLC go on sale on Steam, I rarely buy DLC in the first place but the last one I picked up was for Crypt of the Necrodancer when it was on sale. That said if we had an all digital world I might be inclined to agree that quality sales might start to go away.
