People's personalities strongly influence how attractive I find them.

I agree with you here, but an observation I've made that expands my thoughts on the topic.

Attractive people tend to demonstrate their level of self respect visually with how they put themselves together, whereas it's also obvious who hates or is apathetic to their own existence. While this doesn't necessarily say anything meaningful about their personality, and sometimes it's easy to conflate self respect with self involvement, I feel like people I've met who demonstrate more self respect in this way seem to not only be more resilient, but more likely to engage in respectful, positive interactions with others as well.
