Even though I know the mask is only symbolic and doesn't actually protect from anything, I wear one just to be sociable.

For a mask to even be 3% protective, it needs to seal well around mouth and nose. Common masks don't. Wearing for longer than a few minutes, moistened from breath, downgraded to zero protection.

Bandanas, scarves, cloth masks, totally symbolic. I am scheduled to take my blind neighbor to her doctor's appointment tomorrow. I'll see if the clinic lets me in wearing my (totally symbolic) cloth mask, or asks me to switch to a (mostly symbolic) paper mask.

Isn't science fun! Don't you wish pundits actually read the research?
