You can't stay ahead of a narrative unless you disclose half-truths every once in a while. That story was too big to sweep under the rug. It's damage control at this point, and they're trying to distance themselves from it for the sake of optics, would be my guess.
This. It's called getting ahead of the story because it looks more suspicious if a story breaks that you were trying to cover up. Since its impossible to hide news like this nowadays you have to break the story first so you can establish the narrative surrounding the event

Using that logic then the earth is confirmed to be flat.
No, he's just saying that the government has shown on multiple occasions that they are, in fact, able to conspire and keep things secret for incredibly long periods of time. Doesn't mean every conspiracy theory is true. Look up the Tuskegee experiment my dude for one of the most egregious examples

Anyway, we already have plenty of reason to be suspicious that at least quite a few people in government/hollywood/etc are involved with human sex trafficking. Epstein's very existence has given us plenty of reason to suspect anyone closely associated with him. To act like its crazy is to be suspicous is to be in denial. I think people just naturally don't think something so crazy/awful could be real
