43. Nostalgia Op.2 - Bad End Syndrome
vs.
59. Terraria Calamity - The Filthy Mind (Theme of the Hive Mind)

What I had:
Bitbop > Disco Necropolis

Bad End Syndrome is very pretty. Lovely, even. Everything feels smooth (except maybe the link quality), with nice piano flourishes and such. It's a good song, but it stops shy of being a keeper for me, not for any one reason, but based solely on personal taste. (I gave it a 6.5.)

I said this during Scourge of the Universe's match but I just can't get into a lot of Calamity music, particularly the songs that "go hard" like Filthy Mind. There's really nothing I can point to and go, oh, I like this, this really stands out to me. I guess parts are in mixed meter so that's kind of cool? I don't really know what else to say about this. I still gave it a 5, which is average, meaning it doesn't stand out good or bad to me. I'm glad people seem to like it I guess!

32. Ar tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica - Rustling Throb ~ Cloche
vs.
29. Beatmania IIDX 25 Cannon Ballers - Midnight Lady

What I had:
Battle YAS 2 > Level 5 (Hoi Aga) (wildcard)

I was consistently shocked this contest by how little an impression Rustling Throb left on me. Don't get me wrong, I like it, it's super cool, I like basically everything it does. I just expected to really like it. It has all the elements of an Ar tonelico song I'd gravitate toward. It's still a super cool song though! I love how the vocals blend in seamlessly with the rest of the music, I love how everything builds together to form a cohesive package, I love virtually all the sounds and how they dance with each other. It's a super cool song. I just apparently like half of the field more. /shrug

I'm always so happy when the channel changing at the start of Midnight Lady stops on the actual song. This song is a delight. Very funky, very lively, lots of SAX POWER. This feels like it would be on an 80s cop show...or, more accurately, a 20s revival of an 80s cop show with a modern sensibility. I always enjoy listening to this, no matter what kind of mood I'm in. happy happy song~
