(Of course, wave 2 is probably going to happen in the EU eventually, and wave 3 and 4, etc. until they either get a vaccine or get to herd immunity). Compare deaths per capita and they aren't. More specifically, compare specific states to specific EU countries. Every US state had different lockdown policy. Every EU country had different lockdown policy. Many of the worst performing US states had very restrictive lockdowns. Many of the best performing US states had little to no lockdowns at all. Same for EU. There is little to no actual evidence (as in, looking at actual outcomes that have already happened) that lockdowns are effective at all.
