This intro actually stood out as somewhat unique simply for how exceptionally uneventful it is. After some extremely prolonged shots of the exterior of a building, the only thing that actually happens during the entire intro is a guy can be seen looking out his window and then blowing out some candles. And thats it. Not many intros do so little, especially for a horror show.

Of course, Im not being entirely fair. The intro does give you some sense for the tone of the show, which is almost entirely thanks to the atmospheric music. The trouble is the music is doing all the heavy lifting. If you, hypothetically, replaced it with the theme song to The West Wing, this intro would have an entirely different tone with the exact same visuals. In fact, youd have no hint its a horror show aside from the title of the show and the dramatic episode title, The House that Bled to Death. Thats not to say the intro needed to have had a vampire pop out and scare the viewer. Oftentimes subtlety is for the best. But its entirely up to the ominous music to create a sense of tension here.

I don't want to alarm you, but there may be a boogeyman or boogeymen in the house
