I dont think any other intro had a moment that made me roll my eyes more than its time to d-d-d-d-duel! Not sure I used enough ds in there, but you get the point. And while on the subject, why does a little kid have such a deep voice?

Anyway, the story comes mostly from the narration at the start, which is rarely a good way to convey a story. The narrated sequence is too long and kind of boring, without anything happening on screen. But it does provide some backstory nonetheless. Otherwise, the only aspect that contributed to boost the story was the split shadows and faces of the character, giving the impression of some kind of dual identity (not sure if thats accurate because I havent watched the show, but it was my take away).

The animation was thoroughly average, nothing terrible, nothing great either. And the intro wasnt that unique, consisting mostly of generic clips. A couple things that helped prevent the Unique score from coming in even lower were the visual effects playing around with two versions of the main character, and the unusual Middle Eastern influence for the music when it first comes in.

Speaking of the theme song, I thought it at times worked really well to make the intro seem more exciting, most notably the instrumental part starting at around 0:59 (and again at around 1:25). My only gripe with the song was the annoying vocals going yo that come in periodically, and I probably could have scored this a bit higher on Music without them.
