Haven't actually watched the show, but I think the lyrics spell out more of the setup than that.

Never too far behind, they're always fighting crime
Undercover and facing adventure in the DANGER ZONE

...

What's behind this stunt show? Only their uncle knows.

So they're traveling the world fighting crime, using a traveling stunt exhibition as their cover. You could say it's a terrible story littered with plot holes--if you're undercover, you probably don't want to draw a lot of attention to your special vehicles; there's no given reason these kids should be part of a crime-fighting organization other than family ties--but I think there's more there than just riding cars.

I cant say I noticed that line about fighting crime. It actually makes the intro seem less effective to me, since that seems like a pretty vital plot point that doesnt come across from anything shown for the entire intro. We dont actually see them chasing after a criminal or doing anything other than driving around performing stunts. It seems to me like if thats the premise of the show, it should be more than something alluded to in the song lyrics.
