One thing I neglected to mention in my opening post about my scoring system. If I score a factor a 5, that means I consider it average in that factor. That might be obvious, but I figured Id clarify, since for some people, a 5 might seem below average.

110. Sonic X - WhiteLens

Unique: 0.75
Story: 1
Music: 0.5
Animation: 5.25
Personal: 0.5
Average: 1.6

Ive never been a fan of Sonic as a character. And my reasons for that are a big part of why this intro didnt work for me. Sonic has always struck me as kind of like Poochy from The Simpsons, a character created to seem cool to children. Hes supposed to be in your face and edgy, as this intro tries to remind us with cringey moments like Sonic spanking himself as he grins. But its all just so forced and trying too hard.

Since that contrived edginess is all the intro tries to tell us about Sonic (that and he runs really fast), we dont learn anything meaningful about his personality from this sequence. Aside from that, theres only the faintest hints of a story like Sonic battling an army of robots.

Also, this is a perfect example of a highly generic intro which is just a series of clips, without a unique presentation. Theres a split screen near the start that stands out, but that effect is never repeated or utilized in an interesting way.

The theme song is abrasive and repetitive, with an irritating tendency for the vocalist to repeat the starting letter of a word in rapid succession. The one thing Ill give this intro is the animation isnt bad and effectively conveys a sense of speed for the character.
