The users have nominated 113 intros for TV shows, and Ill be scoring and ranking them based on five factors.

First, the Unique factor. Intros that are just a generic series of clips scored low in this factor. But it will take more than throwing in a bunch of random weird stuff to score high. Its about creating a meaningful presentation that looks like nothing else.

Second, the Story factor. A lot of intros struggled with this factor for two reasons, either showing clips that mean nothing without having seen the show, or just superficially summarizing the premise of the show. To score high on Story, an intro should tell you something meaningful about the characters and their world.

Third, the Music factor. This is partly based on how much I liked the song. But its also about how well the song sets the mood and goes with the visuals.

Fourth, the Animation factor. This is simply how good the animation looks (including CGI). I thought about applying a factor like this to the aesthetics of live action intros, but it was too vague to score. Only in rare instances are visual effects so integral to a live action sequence to warrant an Animation score.

Finally, the Personal factor. This is just how much I liked the intro on a purely subjective level. It didnt make a huge difference in the rankings because its only one of five factors. But in the event of a tie score for all factors, this one serves as a tiebreaker.

I should mention my scoring system wound up being really harsh, partly because its difficult for an intro to score well in every factor. So itll take awhile just to start seeing intros with an average score of 5 out of a possible 10. Id recommend nobody take the scores too seriously. I only included them so you can see what guided my rankings.

I think that covers everything. Ill list the nominations in my next post.
