Its not a particularly intelligent view of that situation, but theres not a lot of nuance involved when cherrypicking things to levy at political opponents. The real hypocrisy is the rights implicit trust of the police state and implicit distrust of other governmental institutions. None of it built on any sort of evidence. Republicans fight a lot of make believe problems that are created to rationalize their misguided view of the world. I think theres plenty of room for debate on things like the reach of government, for example, but you have one side of the electorate arguing in bad faith because theyre jumping to deep state conspiracies, communist plots of the cold war, and lizard people. --- ...
