We also added a new way to calculate compatibility! With help from NFUN, here's his explanation of how it works:

The old compatibility system compares raw scores between people to see how compatible they are. If two people give the same song a score of 6, their compatibility of that song is considered perfect. The alternative system instead compares the relative positioning of a user's songs to generate data. If two people gave the same song a score of 6, but that's the highest ranking the first user gave and the lowest ranking of the second, their compatibility will be low. This has the benefit of being more robust in regards to different scoring systems between users; aberrant tendencies like bimodality will still likely give strange results, but for flat, normal and other "reasonably expected" systems, this should be more meaningful. Probably. This system is more sensitive to total number of songs rated than the old, but should be pretty stable with 100 total rankings. It is not more sensitive to number of shared rankings, and in general should be strictly better than what we had before. Maybe.

You'll notice that now Collen and Mycro dominate the low compatibilities, rather than Ermine. This might be unsurprising if you know their tastes. Ermine has low compat in general because he rates most songs fairly low, but he also definitely has preferences between songs he doesn't like, which wasn't well reflected before. Collen and Mycro have low compat with a lot of people now because... their tastes are "weird" and often don't mesh well with a lot of other people's. I take this as a sign that the new system is working as intended.

This doesn't change anything about how ratings should work as outlined in the top post. Please continue using 0-5 for songs you generally dislike and 5-10 for songs you generally like, it'll improve compatibility dramatically regardless. If you see issues with the sheet please don't hesitate to let us know! Also, any rating of 0 will now be corrected to 0.01, the formula doesn't like 0.
