I have always been a huge fan of counter-burn decks, red/blue, but I don't think it's super viable. Fun as hell though.

There was a Niv-Mizzet combo that lets you auto-win in modern under pretty easy conditions. I forget the card names:

Basically there was a blue 1-cost enchantment you could give Niv-Mizzet in conjunction with his ability:
--Whenever you draw a card from your deck, deal 1 damage to target creature or player, something something
--Whenever you deal damage to target player(?) draw a card

Edit: Surviving the early turns was pretty much the objective until you got the combo. So putting 3 Nivs and like 3-4 of those enchantments, it was a pretty safe bet you could win depending on the deck. Artifacts could screw you over big time if you're unlucky.
