Yeah... If you're really into history give it a shot. Otherwise I'd skip it.

How rude btw. I wouldn't go this far. For the most part the movie tried to keep itself grounded in reality, but I think that ended up working against it. Just give me the more fun version where the characters only recount their supernatural encounters with geishas whose necks stretch at night, dragons, and haunted paintings and leave the handsome gigolo and the epilogue out. Seriously, "and then these characters you just watched for over an hour all died miserable and alone. The end!" There's such a thing as too historically accurate and that straddles the line.

Also I agree with Inviso. Whenever O-Ei wasn't with her little sister she was kind of a wet blanket. She wasn't a very fun protagonist, but there are much worse on this list.
