Played some more yesterday and made some progress into the Lamare field trip. The Jaeger is not the most fascinating one, but I'll wait and see if there's a good payoff.

A few thoughts:
- The random side-book stories are jarringly dark in this game, and I kinda love it. The Immoral Hero stands out for escalating very quickly in amusing ways.
- On the coast, my party of six is woefully outnumbered against 20 purple Jaegers, but Jusis shows up on a horse and they all run away. Can't beat the power of Cutscene Jusis! Also I love how Rean berates his students immediately afterwards for falling into a trap he directed them in and fell in himself.
- Duke Cayenne has no heirs, says Musse, but a random NPC mentions beloved Lord Alfred Cayenne who died 10 years ago before the current imprisoned Cayenne came to power. Musse's parents also died 10 years ago. HMMMMMMMM. TBH it'd be more interesting if she was the current Cayenne's daughter, but I'm ok with this.
- Sara is the first female character in two chapters introduced without other female characters immediately commenting on how pretty she is.
- Went into Rock Patio and came upon Nidhoggr, who were surprised and panicked that the dudes they tricked into showing up in Rock Patio showed up in Rock Patio.
- Nighttime Raquel is indeed much better than daytime Raquel, though I'm not happy about the students sneaking off AGAIN for no good reason. I was 100% behind Irving when he called them out on it afterwards. Guys, c'mon.
- Mandatory Vantage Masters story battle. Hiding with a Ranger in the back like a coward has still not failed me, though I since faced one Witch deck who could 4 damage per turn without retaliation and it was pretty close.
- I enjoyed Claire's backstory. Also I like how dramatic Osborne is in the flashback, saying "You have the gift of enhanced cognition" instead 'You're not dumb.'
- I'm surprised Rean has not developed a reputation for being obsessed with taking showers, given how many he's taken by now in my run.
- Evade tank Kurt is really coming along, gameplay-wise and made the first Bardias fight a cinch. The subsequent Rean vs. Bardias duel was a complete pain, however, as he kept healing back whatever damage I could deal. Finally got him on a lucky Guardbreak turn and 200CP S-crafted him with a Scorpius gem.
