Another two levels done in Crash for me, "Road to Nowhere" and "Boulder Dash". The former level is predicated on crossing a rickety rope bridge with lots of missing floor panels, panels that fall off shortly after contact, panels ready to break at the slightest jump, slippery inclines, hogs crossing, it's basically a test of how well the player knows the game's jump physics. And I think I'm starting to get the hang of it, and it feels great! Boulder Dash was much easier by comparison. I once again stopped when I got a Game Over on the following stage.

The question that comes to mind the fastest is why so many games from this time felt the need to replicate the boulder chase from Indiana Jones. I guess it's an effective setpiece that communicates the idea of what to do very clearly and is instantly recognizable? I know at least Sonic Adventure did it as well just two years later.
