They basically turned his release into a storyline where he was done once he lost in the Cruiserweight tournament and then they ended up resigning him when he lost because he got over through it. They basically used his real life story of "I was released but they're letting me finish the tournament since I was booked for it" which was disgusting at first since they were legit basically going "As soon as this guy loses his life is fucking over," but it's kinda less so now since they actually ended up resigning him.
