Topic	New players of Xenoblade: is the hype real?

I really enjoy the concept of the affinity system, especially regarding the NPCs. While it doesn't seem super fleshed out, it feels like it has a lot of potential to be something really unique for an RPG. Do any of the further installments in the Xenoblade series do anything further with it? XBX does an NPC affinity system like XB1, though it can be a bit disorienting with its large orbital layout unlike 1's rectangular region-grouping maze and not everything has connections XB2 doesn't have the system at all, there's just Driver-Blade affinities that unlock skill stuff, and it keeps the Area Affinity level stuff but that's really it Torna brought some manner of a community chart back, but it's really just a big list of people you've helped or not yet, with no connection links or anything. Though you get a really nice community wallpaper like image on completion!
