The coolest thing about ME1 is how fast and easy it is to jump into the lore. I think it's the only game where I was eager to learn about all the different aliens and events.

It's just a shame that tutorial is pretty slow paced and it's easy to soft lock yourself if you don't think to save before the first Bypass and fail.

That happened to me! I failed at the little simon minigame. You can get out of it by converting some of the weapons you've found up to then into omni-gel and 'paying' 25 to get through the door.

I think Mass Effect was the first, maybe even the only, game where I actually spent time reading the in-game glossary. The idea that Solarians think at a much faster rate than humans is one little tidbit that stuck with me. I almost found the idea intimidating, when I was younger. Dealing with someone who can brute-force through you is one thing, but someone who can easily outpredict and out-think you like that can be really dangerous.

Probably the highlight of my replay so far was getting re-introduced to the Elcor. They are mostly a one-joke species but they still make me smile.

What always bothered me a little, and is now becoming apparent again as I explore the citadel, is that a lot of the side-quests feel kind of dull. I have one where the goal is to purchase a permit for public speaking! I don't know if I could come up with a more boring sidequest if I tried.
