A sandbox game is an open world game that gives you a ton of tools and options to create your own fun outside of the actual missions and activities. They're games that are fun to just fuck around in. Breath of the wild is definitely sandbox, RDR2 not so much. I've got to disagree. using that definition, Red Dead Redemption 2 is definitely a sandbox.
