Noone watched Birds of Prey because Harley Quinn is a terrible character that in the grand scheme of the DC universe, totally sucks. Now, I'm of the opinion that every movie in the "DC universe" is a steaming dumpster fire, but the only reason Suicide Squad resonated with people is because Margot Robbie is an absolute smoke show, and trying to center an entire movie around her character just highlighted how little there was to like beyond "OMG kinky bewbs"

To LMS' "point" about representation in recent years, I find it hilarious that "woke" people cheerfully forget the plethora of "representative" characters from >20 years ago that managed to be great without resorting to tokenism. Instead of relying on good writing to give female/black/gay characters the spotlight, film studios have realized that tokenism is a great way to fool the ignorant masses into watching their movies, and realized that people calling out tokenism is just giving them free publicity (look at the Captain Marvel chick's media tour).

"Representation" does not a good movie make, as most clearly evidenced by Black Panther and Captain Marvel being middling MCU movies, bordering on boring. You want a great action movie with a black lead character, go watch the original Independence Day. Want a movie with a badass female lead, go watch Edge of Tomorrow
