You're literally just wrong. There are a lot of myths going around spread by people who either don't know what they're talking about, or people who did know what they were talking about 10 years ago.

And any service that has the capacity to recover your account from a phone call is not taking your security seriously, and would rather risk you getting hacked and losing your bank account over denying your account and losing you as a customer. You can bypass their shit with a login token from Google.
