Heh, nice. I mean, if I make a traffic accident, probably my min. insurance cost per year would start from 150 EUR. But since, I have yet to be in any accident since 2011 (the moment I got my driver's license) (and no traffic violations; at least officially recorded), this year the chepest insurance I found was for 89 EUR (the most costliest base price insurance was 130 or 150 EUR). But I'm talking about just the base insurance (traffic related accidents). If you want more (like insurance against animal related incidents, theft etc.), then naturally it will be a whole lot more.

Plus, in a near future, I'll be looking for a new car (from delaership; not used), so I guess I can kiss cheap insurance also good bye :D Still, costly insurance is relative, I mean judging from what you all are paying...

So here, theres liability which should cover you from being sued if you hurt or kill someone, anywhere from $200,000 up to $2,000,000. This has the biggest impact on annual cost and is mandatory. The next two, collision and comprehensive, cover you for damage to your vehicle. Collision covers repairs to damage either you cause or someone else causes. If someone else is at fault and you dont have collision, then itll be a huge investigation and itll have to be proven that they caused damages to your vehicle. If they dont have collision then I believe theyd be paying from their liability. Comprehensive covers all uncontrollable damage like hail, fire, flood, and all acts of God. These two optional additions to insurance dont affect the annual cost near as much. I tried raising the deductibles (a fee you pay when you want to fix the damage on top of what you paid for insurance) from $300 to $500, and it lessened the annual cost by less than $40, so I just left them at $300 each.

Not sure if you stated whether youre city or rural, but that annual cost for your insurance is incredibly low. A similar car here would probably still cost $1,000 to insure. Id like to know why. I mean, I have an idea (I believe we get hosed on insurance in Canada) but Id really like to believe it isnt that bad.

What country are you from?
