So my old man grew up watching the TV show Dallas when it aired, and we recently gave him the DVD box set of the entire series for his birthday. Now we're bingewatching the whole series since, y'know, quarantine, and we just finished season 9. But I gotta say, what the fuck. I'll try to keep it as spoiler-free as possible.

So season 8 ended with one of the two main characters getting killed off, and this had major story consequences for season 9. However, in the very final scene of season 9, that character's ex-wife (who in the season 9 finale married someone else) wakes up and finds the killed-off main character alive in the shower, rather than her new husband. Apparently the entirety of season 9 was A DREAM that the ex-wife was having. Everything in the entire season was completely pointless. Season 10 just picks up where season 8 left off (barring the death of that main character).
The entire 31-episode season (with a runtime of 45 minutes per episode) was completely meaningless. We might as well have just skipped it entirely.

This is honestly baffling to me.
