Rayman Legends pulled off a good one over Celeste in round one in one of the contest's best matches, but then round 2 came and it was time to enjoy the, uh.... benefits of making it into round 2. If anyone doubted that Pokemon HeartGold SoulSilver PowerCrystal CourageColor WisdomPrism wasn't a sufficient proxy for the original Pokemon Gold / Silver / Crystal, this match ended all of those doubts real quick. There was absolutely zero chance Rayman was winning this match, and that's okay. His success came in just getting to this point. This was a blowout big enough to raise alarm bells for the potential of Pokemon knocking off the Western heavy hitters later in this bracket, and for those playing the home game, this win meant Resident Evil 2, Persona 4 Golden, and Pokemon HGSS all easily made it into round 3. This added a lot of fuel to those who questioned the eligibility of those games. This also set up a round 3 match against Nier Automata, and apparently the Nier people thought that game had a chance to win that match.
