In retrospect, it'd be Force Awakens but honestly knowing what we know now and the direction the new trilogy has taken it's just all shit. I can't believe Disney didn't plan the whole thing out a bit more (or at all).

At the end of Force Awakens we were so excited for the next movie- Luke was going to come back and start kicking major ass. And well you all know what happened. Then the "Rise of Backpedaling".. bah.

Rogue One had a lot of promise (Vader ending- need I say more?) but honestly I didn't care about the characters. That's what a Star Wars movie really needs. Without any sort of emotional investment in the characters anything they are put through doesn't mean much in the end. I can still watch a classic Star Trek episode from 1966 through cheesy effects and all because the chemistry of Kirk / Spock / Bones is so great even today. The only main character I ever remember from Rogue One was the droid. Well, him and the blind guy I suppose.

It's always going to be Empire / Return of the Jedi / New Hope for me. Those are the ones I saw as a kid in the theater, the ones I watched a billion times over the years. Really the only ones that never let me down. Maybe in 50 years somebody can do something again to make this franchise great again, movie-wise.
