Welcome to Game of the Decade of the Year! Here we will throw 200 games into a voting blender to see which one can come out unscathed and be considered Board 8's Game of the Decade of the Year. This contest follows a similar format of User of the Year, a contest etched in the lore of this board, with slight modifactions to some of the round formats. If you want to read more about it, I direct you to the wiki page: https://board8.fandom.com/wiki/User_of_the_Year

In short, there will be eight rounds, each with different matchup and voting rules. Each round will eliminate a chunk of the games from the contest before the remaining games are grouped up for the next round.

This topic will serve as the unveiling of matchups for each round as well as a record of the results of said matchups. Voting will take place in dedicated voting topics. This topic can also be used to discuss the results or anything loosely related to the contest.

Here is the format for each round. I will explain them more in-depth when the groups are announced and in the voting topics themselves.

--Loser of each 1v1 matchup is eliminated

ROUND 7 (5 remaining)
--One group of 5
--Voters can choose to distribute 10 points among the five games -OR- subtract 5 from one game

--Bottom two eliminated

ROUND 8 (3 remaining)
--One group of 3
--Voting format is +1, -1
--Winner is champion

I will begin drawing the divisions for Round 1 tonight. The top two seeds + the four best performing three seeds (RE2, Xenoblade, Portal 2, Pokemon HG/SS) in the GotD bracket will get separated into their own divisions. Everything else is randomly drawn in. The games in the contest will be posted in alphabetical order following this post.
