You certainly aren't using it every time you close in for your melee combo but it's good to get into the habit of using it to spend excess mana if you had 85+ for both immediately after you use Corps-a-corps, in a scenario where you know you aren't going to be wanting to go back into melee range as soon as you would be if you hadn't used it. It doesn't hurt that it's 300 potency for only 5 mana too so it's very cost efficient.
