Stocks values change every second. Day trading is when you buy a stock and believe its value will rise by the end of the day or sooner. Ive bought stocks and sold them not even an hour later.

Different companies have different rules. Most require X amount of time passes from when you can use the money you gained from selling your last stock to when you can sell your next (this is called settled funds).

In other words, if you have $50,000 and invest it all in Stock A today and then sell it for $50,500, you cant make another sell until X amount of time passes. So in that example, you can immediately invest $50,500 into another stock but you cannot sell it until X passes. In my experience, its usually a day or so. However, I heard of something called margin accounts which allow you to not have to wait at all ever. Youd have to ask your company what their policy is.
