Tales of Vesperia brought me back into the genre in 2011, when I hadnt really been gaming at all. Oh! What a summer of my junior year of high school that was! I have 1000 hours on it. I had just gotten a switch in 2017, but was already losing interest waiting for Smash. Xenoblade 2, flaws and all, ruined a LOT of JRPGs for me. To the point where I compare other games cutscene choreography and animation quality to it. Most dont compare. The Xenoblade animators really are talented, and Im beyond psyched to see what they bring to the table for XB Definitive (my first time playing that game) If its anything like the sequel, Im going to absolutely spend over 200 hours on it. The issue is, right now, I need a nice meaty JRPG to keep me satisfied. Persona 5 was very good in terms of battle mechanics, and I enjoyed building up my relationships and Persona lineup, but it didnt quite... hit me the way ToV or XB2 or FF7/9 did. --- ...
