I would never be a prison guard no matter how much the pay. I hate prisons, I hate that we treat people (Even really bad ones) that way, and I would feel like I was working in hell if I had to go work at one every day, feel bad about being part of process and guilty about having to treat people so badly.

I'm sure there are lots of nice prison guards, but it must be hard to remain nice in such a situation.

I hate even thinking about all the people we have locked up in cages in this country:(

My unit is pretty laid back. Inmates will even say that. We have a few officers that act like robo cop but they are the minority actually.

One damn near got into a use of force incident over a ink pen last night. 90% of us other officers coulda got him to hand it over peacefully if we really wanted him to. Literally had a inmate tell me once only reason they havent killed him is they dont wanna do that to the other officers cause they know wed have to jump in and try and save him. Or if we don't wed get fired.

It can be hard to remain nice when you run into the one asshat who doesnt wanna listen but 99% of the time they do what i want without fuss cause I dont approach the matter in a asshole manner.
