It facilitates getting a higher salary or getting a job in the field without having a huge amount of prior experience. But in such cases you would need to show some initiative by learning other technologies and having at least a little bit of work, even if it's just some private projects, to show for yourself. On its own it's not a guarantee of anything, but it can help you get your foot in many good doors, and that's often a hard step to overcome for many in today's world. As for what the job is, basically it's related to knowledge on how best to deploy solutions on the cloud for companies. The aim is to utilize the endless amount of AWS services in a manner that is easy to maintain, effective, resilient, and cost efficient.
