I don't think it quite deserved that. I suppose when it comes to simple music, emotional themes top my list. This theme is a good example. Its very traditional pentatonic, Asian-sounding music. I enjoy the added note on the strong beats. I also like the dominant at the end of the second phrase, and Id assume its because of the same melodic fragment being used two different ways. Using low strings for support isnt uncommon, but it sound JUST right in this case warm and mellow and they especially sound good at moments like where play staccato. Some random 7ths add to the textures, too. In the second half, the melody gets some added oomph (in a subtle way) with how it leaps up to slightly higher notes than before. I especially like the ascent at 1:18-1:23. This music wasnt meant to be overly fancy or emotional, but I think its very good for what it tries to be.
