152) Pinball Fantasies - steelchambers2
https://youtu.be/Za0GHrE4WIM
Composer: Olof Gustafsson
Score: 6.8/10 (Good)
VGMC History: VGMC 13 (Lost R5 to Chocolate Missile)
Favorite Part: 0:13 - 0:52

This beat Break the Limit. :[ Yeah, maybe you could complain about the overall sound quality (its an old game), but you cant deny the composers creativity with the sounds used. Orchestral hits, synths, trumpets, bells, and bass all impressively blend together. The rumbles, choo-choos, xylophones I LOVE the chord movements from about 0:13 - 0:52, especially with those 2nd interval rubs within them. Yummy. The flute at 1:41...wow, that's some excellent sampling! I like it a lot! The hyperactive bass movements. Ah, nice and DARK at 3:41. The unexpected melody at 4:18 helps propel the music to its close. Yeah, the music always seems to find some way to keep my attention for the most part (except for a boring stretch a couple minutes in).

151) Homestuck - Sburban Jungle
Composer: Michael Guy Bowman
Score: 6.8/10 (Good)
VGMC History: VGMC 5 (Lost R1), VGMC 6 (Lost R7 to Dorchadas)
Favorite Part: The section at 1:41

Here's the one and only non-video game music to make the list! Is Homestuck music even allowed anymore in these contests? Regardless, I'm kind of surprised myself that this one is ranked as low as it is. This theme is apparently about the suburbs within a jungle? Or maybe it's a Chevrolet Suburban in a jungle? (sorry, awful jokes) Okay, now on to the music... I first gotta note that xylophone pattern! (Nice chords there) It goes without saying it's an appropriate instrument for the title. I'm liking the way both the synth 16ths and big piano octaves are presented. It's unique for sure. I wish there was more development, but alas. 1:39 - I love how it concludes with those tripletized big chords! The section when the textures drop out is pretty good at 1:41. It kind of reminds me of... Ice Cap Zone Act 2. I like 0:52 where the synth joins the fast 16th note runs, especially when they start arpeggeiated all over the place. I enjoy the slight change of mood at 2:32.
