It was great from like 16 to 30, getting drunk was a fun activity to do with friends and it was nice to try new beers or liquors. You would get hangovers, but it was just accepted as part of the process, you nursed it off and got back at it that next weekend or whatever.

Now at 34, nothing sounds worse than getting drunk. You hang out, drink a bunch, feel sloppy and then you feel bad the next day. Like none of it was really that fun. You drank 8 beers and basically just got a headache in the end. I still drink, like a few drinks here and there, but the thrill is completely gone. I understand alcoholism and how it can help mask personal problems for people, but if you really just want to get faded, there's better ways to go about it than alcohol.
