I agree that Book 1 has a lot of skippable eps compared to the majesty of Books 2 and 3, but let's not get hyperbolic here.

Especially considering that 'Nightmares and Daydreams' is the worst ep in the series. It's the very definition of filler, and it robs an episode slot that should have been devoted to a legitimate Zuko + Toph field trip.

I watched that episode like 2 weeks ago. It is that bad imo, and I really did consider leaving the show behind at that point when I was young (probably ~14). It is in the top 5 of my most remembered episodes due to how bad I thought it was watching the first time through.

I'll see how I feel about the lows of the following seasons though. It may have been the case that I was already on board and more willing to forgive dumb episodes in Books 2 and 3.

Edit: I'll put it another way: if it was the first episode I watched of the show, I probably would have never watched another.
