On the bright side, everyone gets a free version of Shiki during the KnK event, and she's actually more powerful than the gacha version! New players will often burn through the story pretty quick using powerful Support Servants, but it's cool if you don't want to do that. How far into the story are you now? Chapter 6 (Camelot) is where it really starts getting difficult. For getting XP, you should be doing the 40AP XP node pretty much exclusively. The lower levels are much less efficient.
