From video games or just in general?

From video games, it's probably the death at the ending of the indie video game End Roll by Segawa. I have played games that have made me tear up or cry a bit before, but this game emotionally wrecked me. I can't compartmentalize how it makes me feel. No other game has ever done that to me. Cannot recommend it enough.

As for in general... geez, I don't know. Maybe the deaths at the end of Martin Sherman's Bent (1997 movie version). My mom and I watched that together, and it was the last of three movies with sad endings that we watched; she picked Brokeback Mountain, I picked Cry, The Beloved Country, and she picked Bent (she was interested in gay-themed films at the time and I was interested in faithful book to film adaptations). After it was over, I told her she wasn't allowed to pick movies that were obviously going to end with cripplingly despairing hopelessness that the characters found themselves in through no fault of their own anymore because I just could not have been able to handle another one after Bent. That movie fucked me up... also makes Brokeback Mountain seem like a comedy in comparison.
