I remember calling up either Sega Or Nintendo and asking about killing a boss, and they said, no you don't kill them you defeat them. Late 80's early 90's Hahahahahahaha. They charged your parents $2.95 per minute to talk down to you about how it's defeating an enemy rather than killing them.
