Don't try to pretend that's what he's really doing. His own aides admit they book these things when he gets down and they want to cheer him up. This jerk has such a pathetic need to be loved and worshipped. His self aggrandizing rhetoric and behavior makes it clear as day why he does this.

I will however concede that Obama should have got out there to rally the troops every now and then(not as much and as shamelessly as Trump). He needed to tout what he was doing in the face of GOP opposition and take a dignified victory lap. That's one thing Democrats can learn from. If Barack had got out there a bit it might have been more difficult for the GOP to take so many seats out fron under him.
