It tried to mix up the formula with setpieces the way the PS Mega Man X games did, which I'm not a huge fan of. I'd rather just have platforming and normal levels. Also, it felt like every mid-boss in this game was super annoying, for whatever the reason. I think the game would have been better off if they just hadn't bothered trying to tell a serious story. They introduced a new character and then barely did anything with him. The voice acting is, well, bad. It makes it hard to take the Robot Masters seriously in particular. I will say that one thing I did like is that they mapped attacking with the Buster and attacking with a special weapon to two different buttons, so you could still use the Buster with a weapon equipped, which I thought was cool. Overall, I don't think the game's great, but I think it at least put forth more of an effort than 5 did. 2 > 3 >= 4 > 7 > 6 > 1 > 8 > 5 now I'll finally get to experience 9 for the first time! --- ...
