Regarding the book, I just looked up the summary as well. Strange that it's not mentioned. It could be that I'm completely mixing up that story arc with one from another book I read around that time. I remember reading like 5 books that summer, lol. The story I'm remembering is a girl that goes to a party and gets raped while drunk by one of the guys at the party, but people think she willingly slept with him so they either start to hate her or just simply ignore her. She then develops a quirky, noncomformist personality as a coping mechanism and in turn, starts to teach others about forgiveness and moving on. I guess I just remembered it as that being Stargirl. But it's entirely possible this was one of the other tween coming-of-age stories that were popular around that time. --- Congratulations!
