Literally only because I'm hooked on "Last Surprise", which I'm sure I've heard before but am now listening to repeatedly. What an earworm. And it being the battle theme was even more surprising!

It popped up again on my radar thanks to the youtube algorithm delivering this:

And from there watched some more P5 videos, battle system looks fun, digging the art style and characterization, and the reviews on the game (when it came out 3+ years ago - yeah I know I'm late to the party here) are incredible. Seems like just a really fun game in general? And a good opportunity to branch out from my limited gaming ground (which is pretty much just Square RPGs, so not too far) and try something different, while also repeatedly listening to this song, and I'm sure more great music in the game.

Anyways, before I get it, I have a few questions for any fans to help me out here:

(1) Is the game independent from others in the series or is playing some previous entry/ies required?

(2) Would it really be worth it to wait for the P5 Royal release on PS4 or am I good to stick with the original base game? (and save $55 CDN in the process + play it sooner/strike while the iron is hot...)

(3) How long is the game (generally) and the platinum (specifically)? Would want to do a blind run without any guides, ideally.

I have serious trophy OCD and I've seen the game alleged to be 100 hours?? Free time is about to be a lot more sparse for me, and I have a few games I want to get out of my backlog this year + KH3 DLC and FF7R in the near future, so my concern is adding this in and either having to put in all those hours, or resorting to guides for the platinum which I'd rather avoid. Just wondering if it's really more like 40-50 hours or if that "100 hours" assessment is actually accurate...

Thanks!
