I had always thought episode 3 as Beatrice's way of portraying one of the possibilities that led to Eva's survival. The magic and witches are all illusions, but the order and locations of their deaths are real.
Come to think of it now... it is strange that they keep referring it to an accident, one look at their bodies and you can tell they were murdered. So episode 3 should be a fabrication of Beatrice, or another world where Eva survived but did not lead to Ange's world.
