They're just there for dramatic tension, they're not actually allowed to be effective. Even super villains that have no means of defending themselves against guns just never get shot either because the cops can't hit slow moving targets are are unwilling to shoot at all so the super heroes can arrive and fight the villain themselves. --- The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him.
