And what is so hard to understand that everything about the Little Mermaid is based off of European culture? Its a Danish story. Atlantis was also possibly a real city, either way it is still a European myth/legend/real place. Mermaids have also all been portrayed as white in popular culture in America which is what the Little Mermaid was made for by an American company based off of a European story. There was absolutely no need to change her other then Hollywood's weird continuing war on redheads fetish.

The first two characters are based on real cultures (Mulan is based on a potentially real person). Ariel is literally a mythical creature. It's like genie being blue or whatever, just a total non-issue. There was also a Japanese version of Little Mermaid called Ponyo, and a Chinese live action one called The Mermaid. I just don't think Ariel is a good example for this when that story has been adapted to many cultures already.

There's no war on redheads.

And what you're simply doing here is taking one acceptable thing and comparing it to other extreme things. It's just not reasonable.
I'm not going to try to hammer a toothpick into a metal door, the points have been exhausted and the hard headed ones aren't changing their mind, so i'm not debating this further. This about sums it up though. Thanks for these two posters being at least rational.
