Especially since a lot of the people who 'hate' him are democrats who wouldn't have voted for Trump regardless of what he did during his first term. Edit: To clarify, I suspect that, if we had a 100% voter turn-out but two candidates who were identical aside from which party they were a part of, you'd find at least 40% of the country wouldn't just refuse to vote for the other guy, but outright hate/despise them simply for being a member of the other party. America also suffers HEAVILY from Californiaization and it's no secret at all that a lot of both legacy and social media is found in the Cali cities.
