It questioned his usefulness after the Cold War and made a woman his superior. That he withstood it is a testament That's one of the best scenes in the series and in the end it shows that Bond can still work in the 21st century. I just wish EON would realize that instead of making Bond into something else. You can also tell the M/Bond scenes and their relationship in the Craig series are inspired by scenes like this and others in the Brosnan movies.
