Just to note, there's no official timeline of when most generations begin and end, and any standard you cite or go by is just arbitrarily choosing their own interpretation of things. It's part of what makes most conversations about generation kind of bullshit (along with the fact that modern generations tend to have less in common than older ones, because the speed of media, pop culture, and information distribution has become so much faster).

When I was a kid I used to be considered Gen Y as often as I was considered Gen X, but these days I usually fall pretty hard into Gen X and Gen Y isn't really a thing (though I'd argue it probably should be).
Sounds like Boomer propaganda to me but okay.
